There have been many times that the outfit that Ellie Goulding has been horrible and or the accessorizing or hair has been a let down. But this pale pink Stella McCartney gown is amazing on Ellie. The back which is bejewelled gave the dress a dramatic flair and the fit was perfect on Ellie. It was tailored perfectly. I think the hair and jewellery was perfectly accessorized as it did not take away from the dress. #Grammys2016 #EllieGoulding #StellaMcCartney #Bulgari.

This Outfit Is Boring
So Adele attended the 2016 Grammys in a black sequined Givenchy dress with Harry Winston jewellery. Her hair was blown straight and she had a middle path. For her performance Adele changed into a red sequined number and pulled her hair back so that little wisps floated around her face while she belted out her new tune. In my humble opinion I think she should have worn the red dress for the red carpet. #Grammys2016 #Adele #Givenchy #HarryWinston

Rooney Mara in Something Other Than Black
I love this Givenchy dress on Rooney Mara. Firstly, she is NOT wearing black, but the dress is still edgy enough which is in keeping with her style. The metal headband adds to the look by giving it an edge with the laser cut outs and spikey straps. She makes this look effortlessly cool. This has been, for me, her best look yet.
Best Dressed Couple = Best Real Life Couple
Matt Damon and his wife Luciana were THE best dressed couple and probably THE best dressed people at the BAFTAS. What a date night right? Luciana was a vision in a blue Versace dress with silver lace cut outs. Her hair and make up was impeccably done. Of course Matt Damon looked like his gorgeous self (yes, I am a Damon fan). Really, the best thing about them though was their obvious love for each other.
50 Shades Of Red..... Not So Much!!!
So....... Dakota Johnson has a certain style I think, simple and easy. Nothing too fussy about her hair or clothes. This is a red Dior dress. There is no jewellery and only a pop of colour to go with the dress. The whole look would have been better if she added some jewellery, maybe a necklace would have been nice. The hair needed to be pulled back as well.
Classic Elegance at BAFTAS 2016
Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet and Julianne Moore attended the BAFTAS 2016. Each one on their own are amazing but put all three on the same red carpet and you get blinded by the star power, not to mention the out of this world fashion.
Lets start with Cate Blanchett who wore a beautiful Alexander McQueen accented with gorgeous Tiffany & Co jewels. The beauty of the dress came from the jewel encrusted bodice. The feathery suede texture of the skirt only added to the drama of the dress. On anyone else this dress would have swallowed the actress wearing it but Cate Blanchett is no ordinary actress, she is a legend who can pull of even the most difficult of outfits.
Then we have Kate Winslet , in an Antonio Berardi structured dress at the top. The wavy locks and pop of red on the lip and the Jimmy Choo handbag finishes of the look eloquently, as Kate Winslet is known to do. So far her red carpet style has been right up there with some of her most amazing looks so I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the Oscars.
Lastly we have last years woman of the moment, Julianne Moore who was at the BAFTAS to present the award for Best Actor. She was dressed in a white and black strap Armani Prive accompanied by beautiful emerald Chopard earrings. The silhouette of the dress is perfect for someone like Julianne Moore, classic and sophisticated.
All three women know how to dress for their bodies and only get better with age.

Ladies Of Game Of Thrones
Emilia Clarke and Maisy Williams both looked amazing in their colour popping dresses. Emilia was ravishing in her pink plunging neckline Dior. Messy bedhead hair and light pink lipstick with minimal jewellery completed the look. The mother of dragons looked young and fresh and nothing like her TV character.
Maisy Williams, who plays Arya Stark on the Game Of Thrones TV show looked as good as Emilia Clarke in her own cute way. Her cobalt blue Ermanno Scervino dress was age appropriate and red carpet worthy for someone her age. Her top knot and earrings were the only accessories she used which complimented her look. The grey shoe was something different and whoever thought of it is a genius.
The 1 & Only It Girl
So Brie Larson continued on her winning path on the red carpet. She dazzled in a light blue Versace dress. The chain knotted affect was something cool and fashionable all at the same time. The pop of orange lipstick and low bun finished off the look. Brie Larson has completed her movie tour and entered into the red carpet with effective smoothness. Hopefully the good fashion continues with the Oscars for Ms Larson.
Better Than The Globes
Alicia Vikander attended the SAG Awards in a sequin Louis Vuitton. This was a much better option then her dress at the Golden Globes. It was perfect for the occasion, it made her look young and sophisticated. The sleeked back hair completed the look.

Mustard & Diamonds
Jennifer Lopez looked amazing in her mustard Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown. She accessorized with 200 carats worth of diamonds in the form of a Harry Winston lattice choker. I feel like the hairstyle could have been better, maybe a ponytail to showcase the cape around the back of the dress. The ruching shows off her curves and the slit gives you a bit of the JLo we all love, showing us some skin.
Cookie Is Getting Married.... Or Not
So I love Taraji P Henson, but this dress was boring and very bridal like. The train did nothing for me because everyone that was anyone had a dress that had a train. I also think that the dress was a bit low at the top, which means it probably didn't fit her well. It was very disappointing to say the least for someone who is normally so fashionable.
Mary Jane Watson??? More Like Lady Of The Dark
Okay, Kirsten Dunst has typically always given us boho chic, flower child and high fashion styles which we love but we have become use to. So when she walked onto the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards in a plunging strappy Valentino Haute Couture gown, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. Kirsten nailed the look. In my humble opinion this is probably one of her best looks and she is the Lady Of The Dark in a good way.
Oh JoY, Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence smashed it out of the park in her red Dior Haute Couture Oblique cut out gown. Additionally, she accessorized with just 1 piece of jewellery which was a Chopard choker/necklace worth 156 carats in diamonds. JLaw kept the wow factor with the dress and choker, wearing no other jewellery and only adding a red lip and pulled back hair to complete the look.
I have read a lot of different websites that say JLaw style is boring and her partnership with Dior is not beneficial to either party, but I disagree, their partnership not only works but it works well. JLaw is an actress and a fashion forward girl, she is going to wear high fashion garments that not everyone is going to like. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and seeing as this is my blog, I say this look is perfection.
Golden It Girl #2 Brie Larson
The second 'It Girl' for the red carpet season was Brie Larson who was exceptional in ''Room''. Brie Larson got the memo. She is a nominee, she has also been slated as a fashionista and she came to the Golden Globes dressed to kill. Brie looked amazing in a gold/champagne coloured Calvin Klein gown with a halter neck detail and side cut outs. Minimal jewellery and a smoky eye completed the look, and it was a good look. Everything was perfectly executed and she looked so happy to be there.
1 of 2 It Girls - Alicia Vikander
The first of 2 It Girls is Alicia Vikander from Sweden. She is in the movie to watch, The Danish Girl with Eddie Redmayne. Alicia was pegged as the one to watch on the red carpet after her amazing world tour for the movie. As well as her Vogue cover shoot which catapulted her to fashionista status. At the Golden Globes 2016, Alicia wore a white ribbon like sheer Louis Vuitton. Cinched at the waist with minimal jewellery and a pop of colour with her lipstick. I must say for a 'It Girl' I felt that it was too simple. I expected something with colour and more haute couture fashion. She looked very nice though, there was nothing that I could find was totally wrong. Just felt a bit underwhelmed.
It Is A New Dawn, A New Day & A New Year..... 2016
It is 2016!!! Wow how time has flown by. For most of 2015 I was out of commission, but 2016 is going to be a bigger and better year for FashionSpectatorSA. I am going to be changing a few things along the way. Maybe adding a few lifestyle tips and products to the blog. But we will take it one step at a time and start of with the fact that awards season is upon us. Actually, 2 awards are finished and I apologise for the delay in giving my opinion about the outfits that were worn by celebs. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and a great January, I know it must be hard for everyone to get back into a rhythm but you can do it, YES YOU CAN.
